My Personal Tips To Speed Up Your Windows XP Computer

Oct 23rd, 2011 Walter Bourn

I know how to speed up my computer XP. For nearly six years, this operating system has been the only one I have used. Most of my friends have switched to Vista or even Windows 7, but since I have not retired my hardworking notebook yet, it seems that I will be stuck with XP for some time more.

Do not get me wrong. I love Windows XP, although I hear that Microsoft will be phasing it out soon. However, if you ask me, this is a step in the wrong direction. After all, the OS giant has spent so much time in debugging and tweaking the operating system, only to give it up. I find this such a waste of time since as the common saying goes, if it is not broken, why fix it.

The best way how to speed up my computer XP is by making sure that it receives updates from Microsoft in a timely manner. You know how every OS is never finished; updates are constantly happening even if we do not see all the software programmers at work. These people are a lot like Santas elves, we do not see them but they do all the work to ensure that my XP is in perfect condition.

I used to be scared of accepting live updates from Bill Gates and Co. I thought maybe it was the companys way of circumventing the rules of privacy, or maybe these guys were doing something to my PC that I did not know about. It was only lately that I began to feel comfortable with all these updates happening on a daily basis sometimes. Scared that I was, I guess I just got used to the drill so I learned to let the fear go.

When the yellow shield icon comes up on the system tray of my PC, then I know there are live updates from the XP maker. There was a time when I refused to accept updates from Microsoft, until I realized that I was going to be the loser in the end. After all, taking all these updates like a man was the only way how to speed up my computer XP. I know this for a fact because once I stalled all the updates, my computer slowed down like a donkey with my entire luggage on its back.

For sure, all these updates are not all about how to speed up my computer XP, as I sure have seen some modules, which enhance security or increase malignant software recognition, among others. However, since these are all geared towards making the OS perform better, then ultimately such enhancements do bring my computer up to speed.
